The child dancing in the stars is doing
Soaring Crane Qigong, Chinese exercises
that promote healing and strengthen the
immune system. I do these exercises
daily. In ancient Greek philosophy, Plato’s
Phaedrus says the world of the stars is
the place of transformation. At the
beginning of this piece, the child was
standing stiffly on the ground. But as the
work progressed, I changed his arms and
legs into the movements of Soaring Crane
Qigong. Now graceful, he dances among
the stars. This is possible because art is a
place of wishes materialized and miracles
actualized. There is a part of all of us that
is always a child, full of possibilities and
miracles, and all of us are fully capable of
dancing in the stars.
