Archival print available in multiple sizes
Here, a young Native American woman
is Gaia, Goddess of the Earth. Her hair
flows into the tree behind her, while her
moccasins blend like roots into the
grass beneath her feet. A bird perches
on one hand and in the other she holds
a seed for the new life to come. This
young woman also partakes of the
symbolism of the White Buffalo Calf
Woman, sacred to the Lakota tribe of
Native Americans. It was White Buffalo
Calf Woman, who gave them their seven
holy ceremonies and incorporated the
four ages of creation within herself. She
also told the Lakota that one day she
would return to them.
