This, like all my works, is a painting
about an internal or psychological
state. The man is imprisoned, but
the bars float because they are of
his own making. We all have made
prisons for ourselves and shackled
our capabilities. Acknowledging the
way we have constructed our bars
and limitations is a step to freedom.
